Jeanneau Sailboats
Christmas and the end of 2020 are both right around the corner and frankly we could not be happier. What a year. In keeping with the holiday spirit, we thought we would highlight a boat manufacturer whose logo is particularly on point.
Jeanneau is a French based sail and powerboat manufacturer founded in 1957 by Henri Jeanneau. Then only a hardware store owner, Henri was passionate about the mechanics of motion expressed by his love of aeroplanes, automobiles, and powerboats. His foray into boating started with him building a wood-hull powerboat which he raced and won.
Shortly after he setup his shipyard and began building with fiberglass convincing skeptical customers of the how superior this new material was for boat building. Sailboat manufacturing followed in 1964 and then Jeanneau’s reputation was cemented when Yves Olivaux sailed a production boat across the Atlantic single-handed. Many more awards, races, and championships followed as the company expanded through the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s. in 1995 Groupe Beneteau was formed and Jeanneau joined the fold along with Lagoon catamarans.
Jeanneau now has offices and production capability worldwide and is truly a global sailboat manufacturer.
